For the first time in well over a year I plugged in and fired up my #Valve #Index because it's just been too long since I played any #VR on #Linux. I was greeted with a glittery artifact-ridden night sky and no user interface. #SteamVR has been neglected by Valve for so long that it's broken on up-to-date systems. This means I either have to boot into Windows to play my VR games or I have to get a stand-alone headset.
Or give up on VR entirely.
None of these options are appealing.

I highly recommend the #Welsh (#cymraeg) satirical murder-mystery Rhwng y Silffoedd by Andrew Green. It's the 1st novel I've read to have a hilarious, but accurate #index, that actually had me snorting & chortling aloud - from its entries for the late Vice-Chancellor ("an inhabitant of Hades for most of the book, passim") & Alfred Russel Wallace (turning in his grave 30, 34), to that for "beard: sign of mental inadequacy 101; of melancholia 213; of metropolitan sophistication 110; Karl Marx 76."

#Indian #Government made up an #index of #measurement of #poverty based on "#feels", and based on this "feels" index they claim "feeling" of poverty reduced by 10%. Big victory for feels. Not so great outcome for actual rise in income.
