The next tea is also from India, but it uses its own toponyms, so I hope it to be not that controversial.☺️

Darjeeling Tindharia . On the website of the tea shop where I buy it, there is a note that Darjeeling Tindharia is generally accepted as a red tea, but its technology of creation reminds of oolongs.

In the aroma is mild but playful citrus sourness with officinal background. I would recommend having this one in tea lover's collection.

Indian Longjing from Meghalaya. Sweet and lasting green . It differs a lot from the original Longjing (upper in the last picture), so it’s fine to have them both in a tea lover's collection.

Trying last MyTeaPal Club tea from India before returning to my usual Chinese tea hijinks. Doke Tea Black Fusion (2022, autumn) is a nice, clean, daily drinker black. Lower astringency than I expected from previous Indian Black tea experience and a more savory than fruity character, sort of Dian Hong, junior. Not much in terms of aromatics, but some light lingering bitterness.

Continuing the tea from India adventure with Doke Rolling Thunder (handmade, organic) autumn flush, 2022, via MyTeaPal Club. They call this an Oolong, which, hm, more like half way between Darjeeling and a lightly oxidized red. Low astringency makes it pretty easy to brew. Some charcoal character in the empty cup. The mix of oxidation levels on the leaves lends multifaceted complexity to the flavor, during the session the tea sometimes tastes green, sometimes red. Overall an enjoyable brew.

Fall 2022 Green Diamond (organic, handmade) from Doke Tea. Another tea from India via the My Tea Pal Club. This one is uncontroversially a green tea. Well made with no off or harsh flavors, it would be a good everyday green tea. Similar to, but not as meaty as Yunnan green teas.

Like most Americans, I started drinking Lipton tea, then moved to English Breakfast style teas. From there I moved to Darjeeling and Ceylon teas. However, it has been many years since I last drank tea from India, so I was a bit curious when MyTeaPal announced last month's theme was in partnership with an Indian tea producer, Lochan/Doke Tea. The first tea to try is 2022 Fall Giddapahar Spring Queen First Flush. The flavor immediately takes me back to drinking Darjeeling tea decades ago. They call it "black tea" but from where I stand now, after years of drinking Chinese tea, it has more in common with certain more astringent types of Chinese white tea.
