Thank you to @paulrobertlloyd for his continued work on #Indiekit! Trying out the current main branch, which adds UI support for posting photos. Working great for me!
Couldn't leave it alone. 😅 Got the #IndieWeb #IndieKit working. The issue was related to the GitHub Token. I was attempting to use the fine-grained tokens but it never worked as I wasn't sure what permissions were required. Switched to "classic" tokens and it immediately worked. Would prefer the latter since classic tokens are just "all or nothing" permissions.
It can also post to Mastodon! Didn't bother with the bird api.
Detailed post this weekend for sure. Now for some sleep...
Less than 4 hours over two nights and I have #IndieKit running on a Render Web Service connected to MongoDB. I admit to having the MongoDB database mostly ready to go already. Much of that time was spent figuring out how to spin up a low-cost/free node.js server.
Last night I had it connected to GitHub and deploying updates to a starter kit jekyll site, but I muxed it up this evening. Won't stop until I have that working again.
I love that #Micropub (via #Indiekit) provides a standard, open API to post to my own site and syndicate to services like Mastodon. But I think I’ve tried all the Micropub clients out there, and none is anywhere near as a nice as, for example, using @marsedit to post to WordPress. #indieweb could really use a killer app in the authoring tool space. #POSSE

Okay I got #IndieKit auth working on my local machine. I hope to use it to get my blog out of static html land, post some photos, and maybe syndicate some notes to this site. The bird site seems to have broken their #IndieAuth compatibility (oh well), but I should be able to authenticate with GitHub.
Chipping away at setting up an instance of @paulrobertlloyd's #indiekit to publish to my website, and from there to Mastodon. This is the first time I'm going to be writing a Dockerfile (or two) from scratch. Long overdue! #POSSE #indieweb
It took me a second to get my head around, but @paulrobertlloyd's #indiekit is an awesome new way to move your social media posts to the #indieweb POSSE model (https://indieweb.org/POSSE). Host it on a private server and have it post content to your static site's GitHub repo and Mastodon!
