With news of the probable launch of Meta's P95 I wanted to make clear this servers policy:

"Don't preemptively strike meta w/ a fediblock, but stay vigilant with eyes wide open and a finger on the block button."

The same as we do for all servers.

They can be blocked instantly if they violate our terms of use, and as admins are in a far stronger position if we do so then vs before.

I hope all #fediadmins to consider taking this same policy. 1 of X 🧵

To other #mastoadmins and #fediadmins -> We seeing these sorts of spam accounts trying (unsuccessfully) to register at our server, and not even trying to answer our "why do you want to join question" well. So all nuked before they get to in.

But keep a lookout for accounts like these trying elsewhere.

Esp if you don't have screening questions, and accounts can be created instantly.

As we keep experimenting with #BirdUi theme here and are on a testing window for it...I just tweaked the CSS to make the form elment for posting a bit more clear. Does this help?

So we have 250 Patrons supporting this instance and want to start with my profound thanks to you all. ✊

As we head into Meta launching an ActivityPub service & Twitter continues to spiral down, I wanted to do another drive for those of our 10,600 community who can give but have not yet.

Even at the $1 dollar a month "keep the lights on" level. 💵

We are doing fine at our current level of support & traffic, but I do want to build out what is to come.

Now about another 25, this time from technet.social. They are clearly shopping around for servers to infest. Nuked them all.

All are blocked here, and none local to indiewebsocial so far, but remaining vigilant.

The admins at the host servers for these accounts are also very actively cleaning things up there too.

@dsilverman At our server, we do any that are not labeled as such, or that are clearly spam. But good bots, labeled as such are fair game to our server.

We use #Fediblock as a last resort for servers that are functionally unmoderated, and harassing our users, spamming or spreading hate speech.

it's rare to find one that does all ov the above, but brighteon.social checked all those boxes.

Consider them nuked. 💥
