Tfw you're watering your garden in the front yard and hear the community drum echoing through the neighborhood, the voices rising from the backyard in song...
This has been a really intense but important and healing weekend with my departed brother's chosen family.
Stories, songs, art, medicine, ceremonies, food, and company shared with each other.
More ceremony to do, then the release begins...
I miss you so much, anakfi... #IndigenousGulf
I really want to encourage people to watch my friend Monique speak at the National Endowment for the Arts public meeting last month. She does an amazing job of talking about what its like being an #environmentalism #artist here in South #Louisiana, and what it means to be an #Indigenous person on the frontlines of climate change and oil and gas industry. I'm in it in a slide reference to @bvlbanchacollective lol I was watching it like oh hey that me ;D #IndigenousGulf

I am so thankful for the support that I have gotten around securing funding for my stable housing, and yakuke tcetu, a huge heartfelt thank you for that. My next funding ask is more somber.
My dear ceremony brothers year end funerary ceremony dates are approaching. We need to finish securing funding for everyone to be able to attend and travel to do what needs doing. Please share!

From our Feb. 2023 blog post about it: "As another spring bursts into life around us, we wanted to uplift this project that the entire Bvlbancha Collective has helped to start and anchor, the Okla Hina Ikhish Holo network of Indigenous Gulf South gardeners. We are part of the โPeople of the Sacred Medicine Trailโ."
Had an amazing time helping produce and hold our little corner of the 2023 Power Shift Convergence #PowerShift2023 this past weekend ๐
Shout out to our member Sasha who was the Convergence coordinator and heavily helped shoulder the con happening here in Bvlbancha, as well as to the more public facing member Ida, who helped with both public speaking during panels and plenaries, as well as being on the Convergence steering committee and helping with recruitment efforts.

All set up here at the 2023 Strengthening Sovereign Responses to Sex Trafficking in Indian Country and Alaska conference resource center down on the first floor. Just a portion of what the Bvlbancha Trade Table usually offers, but here nonetheless!

What a wonderful event! Yakuke, yakoki, mvto to all those who came out! Bvlbancha Collective was proud to be a sponsor, and was one of the rare events where we all came out in person! Homemade dish after handmade dish came out all day, sausages, boudin, soup, gumbo, jambalaya, greens, pork chops, etc etc etc. People came together to help out, dance, drink, and be in community together while supporting fundraising for the Amazonian land protectors. Excited to hear what the final tally ends up being!
