Very repetitive rhythms that require you to listen. (Although it gets way better a couple of albums later.) The album feels dark and grainy but does have some pop sensibilities. This was only my first time really listening to this album though and I really enjoyed the two after this so I expect also this to get a whole lot better soon!

Test Dept. – History (The Strength Of Metal In Motion)

Test Dept was one of the earliest industrial bands, formed in the suburb of New Cross in London, around 1981.

Similar to Einstürzende Neubauten, but more rhythmic, with a musical approach marked by the use of "found" materials to make unique sounds. They used whatever they could find to make music with, and for the most part this consisted of scrap metal salvaged from abandoned factories. Hence the album title reference to metal.

This is their first album, and it was self-released (no label). It’s very raw. Most tracks are primitive electronic experiments.

I recently tried expanding my musical horizon and I dug into Tim Hecker's work. The "Virgins" album is the singular most discomforting, distressing, upsetting, and genuinely nausea-inducing thing I've listened to for a long while, and I mean that in the absolutely best possible way. I provokes discomfort masterfully and without any cheap tricks musically or production-wise. 10/10 album, not sure I will ever listen to it again. #music #ambient #darkambient #timhecker #industrialmusic
