FINALLY watched complete Infernal Affairs trilogy.

We saw the original on its initial US release and I loved it. We have now seen it 4x.

We first watched # 2 on dvd separately so I wasn't able to fully integrate the stories. This past week, watching them in sequence, I really appreciated it.

But... Part 3 is a hot mess. It mixes timelines, dream, fantasy sequences. The end makes sense; getting there is needlessly baffling.

Both #TheDeparted and #InfernalAffairs are nearly flawless in their own ways.

BUT!

The two follow-up #films to IA, though not as good in themselves, add something that makes the three #movies so much better than The Departed. More sprawling, more messy, but more ambitious too.
