A recent study of #urbanization trends in 331 European cities found that there was a big shift (about 1/3 of cities studied) from net sprawl to net urban #infill from the 2000s to the 2010s. European policies to encourage growing up rather than out are working-- and they could work in the US too!

Suburban Sprawl costs 38% more public money upfront & 10% more ongoing public cost than compact infill growth, with only 1/10th the ongoing tax revenue, according to the Smart Growth America report discussed in this Bloomberg Citylab article.

It is a non-contributing element of a local historic district which needs more residential units.

Owned by a church and just 2 blocks from the most major downtown intersection. This solution would be perfect but providing needed housing doesn't seem to be in the church's interest or scope of service.
