Ran across a video about Robert Chambers' story collection The King In Yellow, and the fictitious play that could drive you mad. The more I think of it, that might have been as much of a prophecy about the Internet as Infinite Jest.

I'd like to discuss #Postmodernism with someone. I'm trying to figure out what I think about it. #InfiniteJest, #GravitysRainbow, #SlaughterhouseFive are among my favorite books, if that means anything.
A lot of these descriptions fit me:
"epistemological relativism, moral relativism, pluralism, irony, irreverence, and eclecticism." I think those are good traits, but I have a creeping sense that something is missing...
Maybe I am a #Postmodernist who is slowly inching toward something else?

奇怪なエピソードの巨大な集積
次から次へと変てこな登場人物が入れ替わり立ち替わりあらわれておかしな逸話を語ったり演じたりする、モンティ・パイソンのスケッチみたいに
そこにたいした物語はない、というあたり浦沢直樹に似ているけれど、かの漫画家ならまだしも思わせぶりな「引き」がある（思わせぶりなだけで実際にはその「引き」にはなんの意味もないのだけれど）
この小説にはそれすらない
ただひたすら奇怪な登場人物が語られるだけ
未来史や家族の歴史ですらもある意味、醜悪なキャラクターの一員でしかない
物語ではなく登場人物のエピソードで読ませる小説
それしかない
いかにもなんかありそうだけど実際にはたいしたものはない
正直、おもしろい小説ではあってもうまい小説ではないと思う
