I really like having the "previous/newer" page scroll to the bottom, it kinda loosely approximates #infiniteScroll!

I think I may want to have the timelines maintain your position across the session so it doesn't skip over a bunch of new statuses when you refresh..

Oh lord I hate infinite scroll.

Watching videos on a YouTube channel with over a decade of videos. Having to scroll all the way down through hundreds of videos is such a pain.

It'd be so much easier if it was paginated and I could click on a page number to jump right there.

Why'd I have to pick a dating app of all apps to write. Well ok anything with people and profiles involves a chat or messages more or less. Only since a decade ago they have to be real-time.
Life was simpler when there only was SSR.

#InfiniteScroll was a cool and creative thing. Now a comic page is like a manga chapter on one page, with a lot of whitespace, and then followed by many banners (of a Patreon channel, of other platforms, of other Web comics). When reading archives or a comic I remember well, I need to skip half the update.

With panels missing due to incremental loads, and the slowly loading site, I'm more likely to consider a comic too difficult to read.

Ohhh, I see. #Google rolled out #InfiniteScroll to desktop browser search rather recently.

Well, I figured out how to disable it--disable Javascript. While the row of enumerated pages no longer exists, this forces the actual page number and back/forward arrows. I have a simple Javascript toggle extension in my web browser to achieve this and control some unruly websites.

I don't remember #Google search results being #InfiniteScroll before. It used to be paginated. I hate infinite scroll 😒

A final rant, before I'm going #offline (at least from #Mastodon) for a few days. I'm not interested in engaging discussions right now, but feel free to add something to this rant.

- I liked to open toots in new tabs, to read them later (or close them if I loose interest). However, doing so now opens a *bloated* app (for which JavaScript needs to be activated, btw) for each tab. Even worse, if I open a toot from my own server, it just loads a copy of Mastodon's main GUI...

- The profile view only shows three 'featured hashtags', and the 'recommended accounts' completely disappeared. I don't want to be limited to just three hashtags, since I toot about a bunch of things. For example, the #ADHD hashtag is not shown at all. Perhaps I didn't toot a lot about ADHD, but this is still an important topic/hashtag for me.

- They really did implement the #InfiniteScroll / #ScrollOfDoom anti-feature

I've never been on the birdsite, but Mastodon continuously feels more birdsite-ish (read: optimised for toxic capitalist metrics instead of for queer community values). I do like the community in my bubble, but I'd like to try out something else on the Fediverse which is more queer and less billionaire-site-ish.

The #infiniteScroll, javascript timeline appears to be forced upon users, with no way to enjoy the previous JS-free interface. This exposes users to #tracking.

To those opposing #Muskrat, mastodon team still don't enforce #copyLeft on a #dogecoin-pumping instance! (See #AGPLv3Compliance)

If a fork is the way forward, back-port security fixes to a version of #Mastodon that doesn't require JS and removing #2FA would be a start.

Louis Barclay a développé une extension pour navigateur qui permet de se désinscrire de tous ses news feeds sur #Facebook afin de rendre ce réseau moins addictif. Résultat : il a été obligé de supprimer son extension et banni de FB et #instagram.
