This article is a great assignment for class:
*Is all knowledge available for free online?
*What did the author need beyond physical access to resources?
*How can a history become lost?
*What is the role of social networks in search?
*Which people or institutions might have the information you seek?
*Why are archives important? What are the challenges of using them?
*How does one question become many?

Library Stuff!
.
I took my Information Literacy Session on the road with an Ipad and 100 new students. Gave a walking tour, postcards and we had a great time.

As a and one of the few people still masking in my library/on campus, I really appreciate this essay: “Dominant COVID Narratives and Implications for Information Literacy in the ‘Post-Pandemic’ United States”

Bottom line: A lot is basically Google saying "take your old shit down, we could not care less for it, or you can kiss your ranking good bye."

Moment of sigh (to put it mildly from what I'd really want to reply to the following).

Local faculty pretty much removed any language about the library in new general studies curriculum. When a library admin asked about, they were told, by a historian btw, that "the library does not own information anymore. Students can now get it in so many other places."

(As I said, refraining from what I really wish I could tell that faculty member).

Why you need to read things carefully, ask reputable sources as needed instead of listening to wackaloons on the Internet spreading misinformation.

ICYMI: It's not often you'll find me agreeing with @EdWhelanEPPC but he's got this one exactly right. It's really uncomfortable to see progressive activists and personalities getting all happy about the Espionage Act.
