Reading is fine. Thinking, is much harder and much slower.

Thinking without observing is pointless.

Observing is the key to understanding.

(Well... that's what I think anyway. 😊)

I recently finished reading “Thinking Fast and Slow” (which you can see by its beaten up looking state, it has clearly come along in a few backpacks with me! ).

It discusses how we think and how our environement effects our conclusions. 💭

Whilst I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about critical thinking, it also served as an important reminder to me to be critical of written information in general.

Some part of me wanted to take it as fact, because it’s written in a book, but it’s always important to verify information - whether in a book (which can’t easily issue corrections), on the internet or any other medium.

That’s because Kahneman himself has since discussed that he placed too much faith in some of the scientific studies referred to.

This feels extra relevant now, when recent global events have highlighted the risks around misinformation. 😕
