The news that sites such as Tumblr and Flickr are considering integrating #ActivityPub and joining the #fediverse is interesting to me. It's similar to how gamers and developers pushed the Big Boys to allow cross play a few years ago.

Sony and MS said it was impossible for years, then games started turning it on "accidentally" for weekends at a time to make a point. (Was it Fortnite and Rocket League?)

Gonna be updating the autonomous digital libraries with a new repo with all the setup files and an automated script to quickly get everything up and running!

This will make it alot easier for people to make portable digital library servers that create their own Wifi network, and also host digital books.

Also got inspired by andrewism's video about Library Economies and updated the #Solarpunk book repository as well.

This is an extension of the Banned Book Library project, but I also wanted to make it pretty apparent that anyone can pick this up and modify things to make any kind of autonomous library!
Once the new repo drops I'll let y'all and Twitter know.

2fa is nominally good as a security practice. What is bad is applying authentication to activities that should not be authenticated. Such as accessing public and published information.

It's a straight-up coercive projection-racket threat:

Another bit of Asimov's life that catches my eye:

The candy stores [owned by Asimov's parents] sold newspapers and magazines, a fact that Asimov credited as a major influence in his lifelong love of the written word, as it presented him with an unending supply of new reading material (including pulp science fiction magazines) as a child that he could not have otherwise afforded.

I'd know of the stores and Asimov's working there (I'd read Asimov's autobiography many decades ago). The bit about access to reading materials stands out to me now in with my awareness of just how much copyright and restricting access to works cuts off people from insight and information.

The paradox and irony being that Asimov benefited from both sides of this: the "unauthorised" (or at least unusual) degree of access afforded through the family business, and later, as a writer, the revenues and income provided through his own copyrighted works.
