Use musl as the default C library. musl is heavily focused on minimality, which results in very small attack surface, whereas other C libraries such as glibc are overly complex and prone to vulnerabilities.

For example, over a hundred vulnerabilities in glibc have been publicly disclosed, compared to the very few in musl.

Use a distribution with an init system other than systemd. systemd contains a lot of unnecessary attack surface and inserts a considerable amount of complexity into the most privileged user space component;

it attempts to do far more things than necessary and goes beyond what an init system should do. An init system should not need many lines of code to function properly.

Haven't had many issues since migrating to #Artix :archlinux: a while back.

#OpenRC at first felt a bit annoying, setting up services manually occasionally, but in these situations I remind myself that I had to do the same thing with systemd too (systemctl ...), I just got used to it.

No issues so far, everything works exactly like I want it; and it feels faster and even more beautiful to look at while booting. Finally, my PC stopped poettering all over the place.

A bit late since the Bullseye freeze is about to come, but I've filed a bug report in #Debian against network-manager due to the removal of the init script for non-systemd init services:

(The local solution is trivial if your package cache has not been cleared, but can otherwise leave your machine unable to connect to the internet unless you know how to manually, correctly startup NetworkManager)
