Using #Inkle to prototype out the conversations in my current Interactive Fiction project, because it's easier than using the REALLY fancy Conversation Framework Eric Eve built for #inform7

Once I get the conversation flow more or less where I like it I think it won't be too hard to convert into Inform. But this is faster for now.
And it feels SO GOOD to be interested in a creative project again!

One of my favorite things in the world is starting a new craft and suddenly recognizing why things are built or done as they are. Examples from recent #TabletWeaving include understanding why there’s a movable peg on #inkle looms as well as why inkle looms exist at all. I mean, it was always one of the things I loved about living history / reenactment work too.

Starting #TabletWeaving!! I think… I might have misthreaded a card because the pattern looks wonky. It’s supposed to be diamonds. But it also could be because it’s my very first weave and I’m just not making clean weaves yet.

Oh, the cards were in the mailbox, yay! New conundrums: Is it terrible if threads cross when I push them towards the back of the pegs while warping? Or is that the point of the cards, to keep everything tidy? Am I threading these cards correctly according to my pattern? I hope so? Loom is here but cards are not yet. Playing around a bit with an initial warp. I’m finding the knot challenging - I did slip knots per the loom’s instructions but YouTube seems to suggest surgeons’s knots, which I’m (literally) getting tangled up trying. (And slip knots look like they might be messy with all threads there?) Also I don’t yet understand how all this length works, so only doing the short amount right now.

I love fibre crafts, #knitting, #weaving and spinning yarn from fleece. I'm starting #inkle weaving and do a little #sewing and wooden spoon #carving.

I decided to try out Heaven's Vault by #inkle today. I was not really a big fan of Overboard! or 80 days, but I wanted to try this out to see if 3D exploration and translating mechanics made things more interesting and oops I played 9 hours on one sitting

🧵 Continuing #Weaving WIP rescue project - Since @maxthyme asked a great question about how my continuous loop heddles work, here are some extra photos.

I've added pics for "push the shed down" and for "push the shed up" settings. The threads that are NOT in the heddles can pass through between the secured threads. This opens a space so that the weft is passed through horizontally. The weft goes "over" half and then "under" half the threads on a pass. #WIP #inkle #inkleloom

@maxthyme The continuous loop is in place of individual heddles. The dowel the bottom is the anchor. The shed of warp threads that goes over the highest dowel is pinned in place by the heddles. The other warp threads travel at the same level where the heddles stop. I push those threads up, to open a shed above. I push those threads down, to open a shed below.

I will try to snap some pictures tomorrow. Great question!

🧵 Continuing #Weaving WIP rescue project - Monday day two, work on the loom proceeded from about 8 PM to just after midnight.

Close-up photos show the full project on the loom, a close-up of continuous loop heddles, and how I tied the beginning to the end, so that the whole warp is a full circle which is then tensioned tight and evenly by the loom.

🧵 Taking a break from my #Weaving history, I worked on a warp from a friend for the past two evenings. Friend ambitiously tried a wide band on an inkle loom for a first project, and never quite managed clean tension. Rather than throw it out, I promised to give it a try.

Progress pics include starting Sunday at 4 PM, the halfway mark at 8 PM, and about 30-ends left at midnight (and bed time) after eight hours of work.
