I've been using a 7 key chorder since the mid 90's. (chorder.cs.vassar.edu/) But a non input device is an essential part of my navigation so I want recommend that. It is a program called keynav github.com/jordansissel/keynav. If you are using Linux check it out. It provides a very quick way to move around the screen. I use a 3x3 grid and 4 keystrokes typically gets me to whatever area on the screen I need to select.

What are your favourite alternative input devices for computer use?

I’m developing wrist pain consistent with De Quervain’s tenosynovitis (seeing the doc next week) and thinking that perhaps changing or varying the movements I use to navigate my machine will help.

I’m currently using a trackpad and Stream Deck for most things, but I’m interested to hear if anyone’s had success using things like ergonomic or chorded mice, foot pedals, etc.

Fresh graphical user interface (GUI) goodness for Linux: xinput-GUI.

Xinput is a utility to configure and test X input devices, such as mouses, keyboards, and touchpads. So, here's a simple GUI for Xorg's (a traditional Linux display server) Xinput tool.

Little GUI apps like this go a long way in making things more accessible for everybody. A huge salutation to the app developer IvanFon!
