For example, I am worried about messing up my dual-boot setup, so I boot into #Rescuezilla https://rescuezilla.com and prepare my hard drive with #GParted.

38 followers · 231 posts · Server mas.toJust done a #Debian 12 #Bookworm clean install with full disk encryption (including /boot partition, excluding /boot/efi) using the #calamares installer from a #Live #Installer image.
Lesson learned: minimum /root partition should be 15GB (for the #cinnamon flavor), the installer will not prompt you if your install partitions are too small (like 10 GB for the root partition), it will produce vage error messages instead… 🥹😇
Otherwise: a breeze!

I prefer maintained apps, where the maintainer (f-droid, #IzziOnDroid, ...) set and configure it in a more private and secure way.

Today I implemented a custom file format for my new raylibtech
tool: rInstallFriendly, a simple and easy-to-use installer packages creator.
If desired, now users can edit installer package config files as a simple script. Very useful for installer text localization!

J'en ai marre de ne rien maitriser sur cet OS coprolithique qu'est MUI (notamment le fait de ne pas pouvoir simplement purger le cache présent dans "Autre" ou supprimer les applis MUI)

I've always had to rsync backup my /home data first (which I would do anyway as a safety precaution).
Because I know it will always format, I just create new LVM and then rsync data back before ever installing a DE or anything else.
I use installer to get base OS, do restore, then run tasksel to install DE (or sometimes manually install if I want a custom and cut-down DE).
Whilst I agree it is not ideal, the #Debian #Installer is a very good one with options exposed that no other main distro does. It is one of the reasons I stick with #Debian
