#instanceMove I'm currently on mastodon.social and want to migrate. Where should I go? I am into #neurodiversity #adhd #autism but also #politics #leftwing #climate #civilrights, so want to be free to boost sometimes controversial content which may not have a CW (will CW my own toots as necessary)

We at .lol are in such a vulnerable position. The other instances know this and still make sure to wipe the slate clean by blocking once one admin is problematic instead of just communicating, waiting and observing - acknowledging that any instance will hold many marginalized users (also those you supposedly "defend" by addressing the problematic admin) who are innocent in all this and will be the ones paying the price. #fediverse #instancemove

I hate it. I wanna go to tech.lgbt but nooo now that is blocked too because no admin can just have a healthy distance and observance. And the monopoly of .art shutting everyone down. "Crossposting #twitter bad" - yeah well SOMEHOW my tweets still survive whereas on here my toots got to live about 6 months! But I am also against twitter folks having a vendetta against mastodon. And I wanna meet people and post content that is gonna last longer than 3 months! All the boosts I have gotten or given will also be gone, right? This stuff ain''t easy. Due to the technical problems, which lead to the fact that the instance climatejustice.social is currently practically only useful locally, I have now decided to create another Mastodon account. Therefore, as of today, I can be found under @raro@digitalcourage.social. Those of my followers who would like to continue following me are cordially invited to do so at my aforementioned new Digitalcourage profile. For the time being, I will only communicate actively from there. Nevertheless, I will also keep my account @raro open (for now). How it will continue and if I will continue it at all, I haven't decided yet.
I would also like to point out that as a result of the climatejustice problems, I have only received sporadic interactions from other instances since the beginning of last week. So if you have sent me answers to toots, follow-up requests and other things since then and have not received any reaction from me, you may and must unfortunately assume that your reactions and requests have not reached me.
Thank you very much @PaulaToThePeople for providing the climatejustice.social instance, for including it there, and for the work you put into this and other projects. I hope the instance doesn't have to be abandoned altogether and that a solution can be found to fix the problems in the long run.

In 2022, in addition to my PhD, I participated in the Klima-Biergerrot (Citizens’ Assembly on the #Climate, #Luxembourg) project as a member and spokesperson. The project was important and interesting but also showed me that the absence of governance in a participatory environment is a huge challenge.

I've moved, it's #Introduction time!

I have just finished my PhD on the uses of Facebook and Twitter by four museums (BE/LU) and their audiences. My PhD research focused on #OnlineParticipation, rethinking access (to the #Museums and #SNS, as public sphere), visible and invisible use(r)s, present and missing data.

Apart from research, I like #Sewing, #Knitting and #TextileHistory, I garden on my balcony #SmallSpaceGardening and Brittany is my happy place.

I joined mastodon.social as a starting point. The upcoming suspension of these instances (.social and .online) by other instances is annoying (no opinion yet but at a practical level, it sucks).

I've been blogging in the past, on a website I set up myself, so I'll probably set up an instance myself one day. In the meantime, what are my choices, as a social scientist, based in Europe (Benelux)?
