What factors did you consider when picking an instance?

I should find an instance more specific to me, since Social seems overloaded. Any suggestions?

Treating this as my Twitter replacement feed, I would be using this mostly to stay connected with folks I know from conventions, and post artwork/crafts in progress

I'm into adult sex education (kink/shibari, lgtbq+, pro-sw, etc), art, digital art, fiber arts, goth music, and I own my own freelance/small business,

Thinking about hopping to a different instance. Nothing wrong with mastodon.online, I just wonder if there's a better fit for me out there.
