It's awesome that the games will fully run in my #Fedora environment with no tweaks. There's some AMDGPU bug that crashed on launch, but I swapped to an #IntelARC gpu and it's much more stable. Can't get into the 3rd world without an engine crash, but there's a patch not out on GOG yet I hope to try. The devs don't "support' linux so hard to troubleshoot game crashes. Oh well.

My #GPU is ten years old, and *still* #nvidia won't release a new #GraphicsCard that feels like a good deal. Hoping for something better from #AMD, or is #IntelArc any good now?

Intel's latest software update dramatically improves #AI #ML #PyTorch #TensorFlow performance on #IntelARC GPUs. 😂

I've been reluctant to say anything about it, since it was (initially) so bad. 😅

In summary: my Intel ARC A750 beats my GeForce GTX 1080, and tails behind my NVidia RTX A4000 (3070 TI). That said my test conditions aren't fair for ARC either, as ARC was running on Windows (WSL). If compared fairly, an ARC A770 might beat the A4000.

With #Intel Graphics HD 4600 + i7-4720HQ, P2P mode actually is faster, 16% in that particular benchmark. The compiler is smart enough to not copy data in unified CPU/iGPU RAM.✅

Today I bought an Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition (aka: the 16GB) graphics card and popped it into my system.

Now, this would normally be a fairly easy thing. I wanted the extra vram, I wanted the intel encoders, video editing with this should should be a breeze.

...but I use #proxmox and route USB controllers and GPUs and an nvme ssd via #vfio directly to my "daily driver" vm.

When developing/debugging #OpenCL software, it must not happen that the #GPU driver constantly crashes the app and freezes the PC until reboot. Does my app randomly crash because I overlooked a bug? - No, it's due to bugged drivers. This is madness. I cannot work like that, especially when loosing progress as Arc goes belly up. 🖖🥲
Today I had enough, I switched from A750 back to Titan Xp. I really want #IntelArc to succeed, but unreliable drivers turn it into a paperweight.

Well, if nothing else... The #Intel Arc #A770 is one of the better looking cards on the market. Very understated and stealthy. I'll be doing a #smallformfactor build soon using the #IntelArc A770 and #13700K. I haven't done anything Intel since the 8700K, but #AMD's been getting on my nerves lately.
