As I was editing this section of my thesis I realized how much my thoughts have changed. I don't think I feel this way about these things anymore, or if I do, I don't think I'd describe them in this way.

It's a good exercise to do this, I think, and that's why I wanted to share it. It forces me to go back and reread things I would otherwise forget.

In case you're wondering, yes, the #EmploymentRate for #autistic people is _abysmally_ low. We are at or very close to the bottom for all affected groups. Autism impacts employment status more than any other #disability, including #IntellectualDisability, #EmotionalDisturbance, #SpeechImpairment, and #LearningDisability.

Some children and adults with Autism have a secondary diagnosis of intellectual disability. It hurts us when neural-typical people use the “M” or “R” word in front of us to express stupidity. Pls stop and use another word! It’s offensive!

Are there any other adult sibling #caregivers of adults with intellectual disabilities out there? I'm interested in talking with others about their experiences, maybe making something like a podcast, and generally connecting with others.

There's been a welcome focus this week on the UK govt's plans to overhaul human rights laws.

The recent piece here is a reminder of why we need to reinforce, not weaken, the ability to use rights.

Often it's so disabled people and their families, allies or adovocates can fight for stuff that others get anyway.

I am new here and still learning the ropes. I am navigating life as the parent of a child with an #IntellectualDisability and doing my best to be an ally to the #Disability community by amplifying the voices of self advocates and working on behalf of Disabled children here in #Maine.

My personal interests include reading, writing, listening to #podcasts at an almost obsessive rate, #cooking, and attending #livemusic whenever possible. Luckily we have quite a lot of it here in #PortlandMaine where I also enjoy sitting by the ocean and walking in the forest.
