This is possible, and with protecting #wilderness as well. It requires agricultural "#intensification"; applying modern techniques, equipment, and biology to farming.

There's a good #discussion of how this can be done, and has been done in various other places, to save wildernesses, improve standards of living, and reduce #hunger, in a very good #book - "Apocalypse Never" (2020), by Michael Shellenberger.

I highly #recommend it.

Oh, what is this latest paper? I can point to quite a number of those, note that it's also wrong to say that the literature "confirms" that #intensification accelerates #deforestation. Processes, contexts, types of intensification matter, both outcomes exist (not elaborating here but of course the answer is not "its complicated", we can and do have a good sense of what leads to what:

Overall conclusion is that constraining area expansion + #intensification leads to a better balance of natural habitat & production targets rather than simply restricting expansion and not intensifying. So far, quite reasonable.

But the study appears a bit simplistic in some aspects to me.

Went to an open home at an #apartment within the one I live in, for a nosey. Great #design makes a place #home, no matter how big or small. Quality compact living within a neighbourhood of higher #density living along the Mt Eden Road arterial. Three Kings is what I consider a 15 minute #neighbourhood with everything from supermarket, gyms, eateries, library and buses a short walk away.
