#InteractiveFiction folx, there's a game that came out over a decade ago and I want to find it and play it again. The only bit I remember was that there were two ferrets that had some pretty funny antics. I thought it was Savoir Faire, but, wonderful game though it was to play through again, it turned out not to be the one I was thinking of. Come to think of it, I seem to remember the game I was originally thinking of had some sort of teleportation chamber in it too, but I could be wrong.
Holy crap, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood was really great! Highly recommend checking it out to anyone who enjoys narrative games, witchy vibes, and just good storytelling. For someone who's missed good writing in narrative games and RPGs lately, this was a really a breath of fresh air!
Now with this and Sea of Stars out of the way, I can finally start Baldur's Gate 3… 😅

I wonder what happened to Suzanne Britton and if she will release Worlds Apart 2. #InteractiveFiction

Aaanyway, so I don't have to spam your feed with long #InteractiveFiction threads, I've written up a sort-of recap of some of the recent games I've played, here - most are free to play:
I don't think I'll ever love "GET LAMP" style parser text adventures (too much fighting the parser), but I can wholeheartedly echo the universal acclaim for "Violet". You can play it here:
https://iplayif.com/?story=https%3A%2F%2Fifarchive.org%2Fif-archive%2Fgames%2Fzcode%2FViolet.zblorb
The premise (perfect for procrastinators!) is that you have to write 1000 words of your dissertation or your girlfriend will leave you forever. You're not necessarily a dude, but she's always a "she".
Absurd & hilarious writing, easy, short-ish, built-in hints.

Four days left to vote in #IntroComp, a great way to get into participating in #InteractiveFiction competitions. These are intros, and the authors are looking for feedback before turning them into full games.

I've been playing a fun #InteractiveFiction game called The Wand by Arthur DiBianca, a puzzler where you explore a castle. The only thing you can use to do anything with is a wand that you can set to different colour combinations and you have to work out which does what.
I solved some of it myself but used the walkthrough as well.
You can get the game from here.

Fandom interests: small movie fandoms; period pieces; AMC’s #TheTerror and #InterviewWithTheVampire; English renaissance drama; #InteractiveFiction; #GothicFiction; #horror; #StephenKing; weird fiction; #NBCHannibal and accompanying books/films; tv shows your dad probably likes; John Le Carré; old man yaoi
Favourite themes and tropes: villain/hero(ine) ships; gothic horror; trauma and recovery; murderous drifters; historical settings of all kinds; miserable men on boats
Shipping, gen, and/or other?: all of the above
Do you create fanworks?: yes (fanfic, fanart, aspiring cosplayer)
Are you comfortable with NSFW?: Yes! My wheelhouse includes a lot of noncon/dubcon/consent issues, loyalty kink, sad sex, villain/hero ships, occasional incest, and jaunty wound fingering.
Anything else?: I love darkfic and narsty erotica, and I try to tag/content warn accordingly; I love historical research and posting pictures of my cat.

"A Long Way to the Nearest Star" by SV Linwood is an #InteractiveFiction spaceship mystery that came in 3rd in the 2022 #IFComp.
Echoes of "Analogue: A Hate Story" by @christinelove and "Tacoma" by Fullbright.
The premise (what happened to the crew?) is well-worn, but the interactions with the AI named "Solis" make it work. Choice-based, with inventory & 1-2 tricky puzzles (I needed to use one hint), multiple endings, lots of attention to detail.~2+ hours, free.

I have finished a full draft of my #IFComp game! 27 days left for rereading, rewriting, polishing, improving flow and pacing, testing, and so on. But that should be doable. I'm stoked!
My NU colleague Casper Harteveld is hiring a professional software developer in Games and XR: https://northeastern.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/careers/job/Boston-MA-Main-Campus/Professional-Software-Application-Developer-in-Games---XR_R117997

After #SilkDust, here is the web version of The Queen's Footsteps running in the browser. If you think you'd like a steampunk #TextAdventure taking place in the 1904 Italy, have a try: http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/varie/queen/web/ #IndieGame #TheQueensFootsteps #InteractiveFiction

I tried a different approach that at least seems to work well on the iPhone. I removed the buttons (hided, in fact), as they take too much place on the screen. Feedbacks are very welcome! #GameDev #IndieGame #javascript #TextAdventure #InteractiveFiction http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/varie/silk/web/silk_dust.html
