Today I am attending UNESCO's #InternetforTrust conference in Paris.

The conversation so far seems to feature victims of government persecution advocating for greater government control over digital speech.

It's a strange dichotomy. Both Maria Ressa and Felipe Neto were horribly victimized by their governments, and both relied on digital technologies to push back and get their message out. Yet here they are calling for governments to reassert control.
