Why is everyone so enamored with pointer devices in modern software when it's just worse usability in basically every way?

Why do so few pay any attention to #interoperation and #composability?

Having to use pointer-moving & image recognition to use GUI programs in a pipeline or workflow is just stupid and would be completely unnecessary if they were properly designed.
