Another #InterPeat update on #SphagnumMonday. The mini-peatland experiment is in the middle of the drought-training phase. Control pots are mixed with those still receiving a extreme #drought and those rewetted 5 days ago. Something is happening. The dry pots hardly emit #methane and don't take up #carbondioxide anymore. Let's see if they can come back from this.

The heat is on! PhD student Yvet Telgenkamp watered the mini #peatlands one last time before the #drought treatment starts tomorrow. We create a heat event with these warming lamps, to mimic the natural start of a drought. Tomorrow we'll lower the water table and create mild and severe drought conditions and a control (no drought). How will the moss adapt?

#InterPeat update. This week, Yvet Telgenkamp leads testing of the setups and sampling protocols for her #drought experiment. With the help of two interns, the #mosses got a fresh rain shower, a hair cut and a photoshoot. First, #carbon #emission measurements are on their way.
