There have been a bunch of Darwin-themed games in the past few years, and I thought IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF DARWIN was going to be a complicated Euro game. (I was thinking of DARWIN'S JOURNEY.)

FOOTSTEPS is actually a fairly simple tableau-builder, where each turn you pick a tile from a market and add it to your board. Do you try to complete as many rows and columns as you can? Or cover up earlier tiles so you can draw more end-game scoring goals?

This is light enough that it could be a gateway game, and like most of these natural-history games the animal artwork is really good. (6/n)

Tuesday night #BoardGames included
- our first duet play of #WingspanAsia - the map board is a nice addition that adds a bit more strategy and the cards are more wordy & generous than the base game
- two plays of #WelcomeToTheMoon - one of which I did great on and the other terribly
- and our first proper non-demo play of #InTheFootstepsOfDarwin which is, like Wingspan, a nice calm nature game where you get distracted reading about the animals - not a complaint.

A good first day of #AireCon starting with getting here safely on a snowy day!

We got to play #Everdell at last which we loved, it seemed very slow at first but quickly accelerated. The teen had all the resources coming in but I got the most points 😃 Definitely one we want to play again.
