Das ist ein wirklich sehr lesenswerter Aufsatz, der am Ende auf nur 2 Seiten wertvolle, praktische (unterrichtserprobte) Hinweise zum Ausführen und Lernen des #Vibrato auf der Konzertgitarre gibt. Auch die Erklärungen zur Intonation und möglichen Lösungen sind sehr lehrreich. M. Koch vermittelt das komplexe Thema sehr anschaulich.

Lucky to get a week out of new guitar strings.

After that they just don't intonate.

Now I know why EVH stuck to simpler chords which were only played on 3 strings.

You can't really bang out maj7#11 chords with Marshall stacks and expect any clarity.

Eric Johnson maybe. But EJ also used to only use 6 volt batteries...

I’m very proud of this new JPhon paper by Simona Sbranna and colleagues from Cologne’s phonetics lab. We used our ProPer acoustic analysis to uncover patterns that were thus far hard to detect in the intonation of Neapolitan Italian speakers (now open access for a limited time).

Our new paper, "Intonation of Greek in contact with Turkish: a diachronic study" (Mary Baltazani,
Joanna Przedlacka, Özlem Ünal-Logačev, Pavel Logačev and John Coleman) is now open access in Language Variation and Change. We looked at how the intonation in a Modern Greek dialect from Asia Minor i.e. Turkey has changed over four generations, following the community's relocation to mainland Greece in the 1920's.

Just done a webinar on priorities for teaching #intonation. Last year in this slot they had Stephen Krashen … 😳

doing a bunch of intonational annotation these days and there is this thing I keep noticing where the speaker will go creaky towards the end of an utterance (expected) but then at the very end they'll go modal/breathy (for a very brief interval) with a higher pitch than the preceding creak.
