How can soundscapes be used as a way to attend to forest life and the many different ways that we narrate and relate to forests?
The forestscapes project aims to explore and document generative arts-based methods for recomposing collections of sound materials to support “collective inquiry” into forests as living cultural landscapes.
As part of the project we have an open call for folders of forest sounds.

Spilt between instances and trying to find my way on Mastodon. So much admiration for DAIR so #introduction here.
I've been studying threads of #sociology of tech for a long time. My PhD was an ethnographic study of teenage gifting rituals w/ short-messaging on cell phones – a clue to how long it's been.
Recently, I've turned to human labours behind AI, from labelling to model building. Fighting structural inequities & my ❤️ in reparative AI.

"Repairing all kinds of objects, infrastructures, devices, and services involves coming face to face with tensions, failures, wear, breakage, and the passing of time that runs through all matter. Repairing also implies confronting the harmful consequences of past design decisions, the 'after' time, from a position that was historically invisible but has recently been recognized as both creative and innovative."
"[...] with this call for papers we propose to consider repairing as a heuristic from which to interrogate the semiotic-material production of the world"
submissions (english or spanish) due 6th march 2023 👇🏼

Finally getting round to #academic #introduction
I've been studying different aspects of the #sociology of technology for too long. My PhD was an ethnographic study of the rise of mobile phone use by teenagers – a clue to how long it's been.
More recently, I've turned to the human labours behind AI – from data labelling to model building. I'm especially interested in structural inequities and reparativeAI.
