A police investigator murders his girlfriend and is put in charge of investigating the crime. As his underlings offer up various innocent scapegoats he keeps rejecting their suggestions The great ambiguity of the film is it's never clear that he's doing this out of guilt or malicious bullying of his colleagues.

Though paranoia is an intoxicating celebration of politics my taste leans towards farce, and this is very brilliant and dark.
