Can you spot the #InvisibleMending? :D I think I did a pretty good job!

Where are socks, there is mend. Two of my handknitted beauties got holes, one at the shaft, the second on the sole. For the one with the pattern i chose a weaving technique with a corresponding colour (all hail to the bag with the leftovers), the second (vanilla) one got a hole on the leg. I chose a contrasting colour and Scottish darning for embellishment. #mending #darning #sockdarning #scottishdarning #sustainability #visiblemending #invisiblemending #mendnotspend

Unfortunately for me, he'd barely worn them a couple of times before developing a hole.
I tried to do duplicate stitch, thinking it'd look invisible... It is. Even more so when you're using dark coloured yarn and it feels like it's been grey forever, the sun hasn't been out and probably won't come out for months and, and...!
I gave up and just did ordinary darning, which you can just about see (the duplicate stitches truly are invisible).

It is really neat to see darning take off on the internet. Everyone doing it as part of #visiblemending keeps throwing me a little, since for years I was always aiming for #invisiblemending with my darning.

I did some mending for my mother in law at the weekend - her lovely hat, itself made from recycled jumpers, suffered a small moth attack. So I unpicked her mend, darned both the small and large holes as best I could with matching cotton thread and moved the button to the other side to hide the large darn. Not exactly #VisibleMending or #InvisibleMending but we're both pretty pleased with the outcome. #MakeDoAndMend #repair #mending

#ootd Today called for some bright colors.
This dress was inspired by images in catalogues from 1917 and created by modifying modern patterns. It's technically a skirt and matching blouse. I often wear the skirt with a different top.
The little cardigan may be the oldest #MeMade garment in my active wardrobe. It turns 16 this winter. Both elbows have been repaired, but it still gets lots of use. #InvisibleMending for the win.
And my Fox Paws scarf always steals the show.
