@landonnoll @ioccc I am proud to be a big part of it my friend! It’s been a lot of fun and has given me a lot of insight into things and additional experiences. It’s been so rewarding and it’s a real honour and privilege! Thank you! #ioccc
@freedosproject I assume that you are aware of this classic abomination? https://github.com/c00kiemon5ter/ioccc-obfuscated-c-contest/blob/master/1988/westley.c #IOCCC
@landonnoll @ioccc A very Merry C-Christmas to you my good friend! I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this as I thought about making it an #IOCCC entry at some point but I don’t think there’s enough to it to win (though there are other features) and I would rather you see it now.
It’s been a real honour and privilege working with you this year on the IOCCC code and I thank you for the opportunity! Happy Christmas and a happy new year to you too my friend!
When I first saw this quote I immediately thought of the #IOCCC. It reminds me of how most programmers can write code that is lousy but writing code that works well but is hard to understand takes much more skill. It’s not stupidity as in the quote but the idea is the same. Don’t you think so @landonnoll ? I think it really epitomises the contest.
I keep thinking about that #IOCCC entry that did SIMD addition by simply treating a 32 bit integer as two consecutive integers... it's both so simple and so smart, I wonder if there is a way to do it automatically...
Also if you think about it like that, pretty much all CPUs can do SIMD, it's just a question of what operations they can do it with and how large the operands are...
#BenLynn : « I may have failed that stupid Compilers exam but at least I can boast of authoring an award-winning [#Haskell] #compiler!
(Even if the award is from the 26th International #Obfuscated #C #Code #Contest.) »

今年的 IOCCC 真神奇,居然有個 PDP-7 模擬器,然後再用 PDP-7 模擬 PDP-11(!)
