Archive or working half? Our @MARUM colleagues Holger and Alex are busy sorting and storing the newly arrived cores in the BCR. They arrived in a 40" cooling container with a total of 15 pallets of #IODP cores from the Core Repository in Texas, USA today. Good job guys!

Despite expecting it, I am still processing the news of the retirement of the #JR next year. A lot of #IODP was what was coming off that platform. We will now enter a lean decade - we need to prevent it from becoming a lost decade.
This is the time to push to keep the program alive!

Many people were hoping it won't be the case, but now #NSF formally announced - the #JR will finish it's historical tenure with #IODP next year.
This ship has contributed more to our understanding of Earth, the Oceans and past climate than any other thing I can think of.

The reserach vessel, the JOIDES Resolution is on the move to their second site for #IODP #Exp398

Samples from the first site covers the whole volcanic history of Santorini and Kolumbo, while the second site will show a more detailed history of Kolumbo's eruptions. #Greece
