@randomgeek #Apple’s priorities center around their own SoCs across mobile, set-top, desktop, and now #XR.

The first version of their #MetalAPI was available to #iOS developers nine months before and shipped with #IOS8 six months before #Vulkan was even announced.

#OpenGL 4.1 on #macOS and #OpenGLES 3.0 on iOS and #iPadOS are still available but were deprecated in favor of #Metal five years ago.

I think it’s less a matter of keeping up and more about not wanting to wait.

So langsam muss ich mich entscheiden ob ich die e2e Verschlüsselung der #iCloud nutzen möchte. Dafür muss ich dann aber mein #iPadAir2 von 2014, welches #iOS16 nicht mehr erhalten hat, aus meiner AppleID wohl entfernen. Derzeitiger Plan ist das iPad in einem separaten Account weiter zu nutzen. Ich schau daraufhineh nur Mediatheken zum einschlafen 😀

Aber schon erstaunlich wie lange #Apple es unterstützt hat. Ausgeliefert mit #iOS8 hat es nun #iPadOS1572
