I have Seek and Merlin Bird ID in my phone. Seek is for identification of plants, fungi, insects, and some animals. Merlin is for identification of birds, including analyzing spectrograms of bird calls.

Now I just need something for identifying minerals… it really is like having a tricorder in your pocket.

Reddit's new API pricing is completely unhinged. @christianselig, maker of the popular iOS Reddit client Apollo is being asked to pony up $2 million per month to keep the lights on for his app. Even if he restricted access to just his subscribers, the API cost per average user is more than he charges. Reddit promised reasonable pricing, but now it feels like a rug pull.

Can someone convince him to adapt Apollo for @LemmyDev instead?

I started writing #iOSapps back when the iPad came out and had a client that wanted to have the first app in their category. It was a lot of fun and I did iOS apps exclusively for a few years. I even had my own apps in the store, but 7-8 years ago, before the data was made non-public, it became clear that 1.5% of the devs got over 95% of the money and Apple was fine with that and let garbage apps fester. The only way to break through was to scale up and I didn’t want to do that. So, I stopped. 🤷

Very interesting. #OpenAI just launched an official #ChatGPT app for #iOS.

Looking for an iOS app (or maybe Shortcut?) that will let me draft a text and send it to multiple people through Messages (whether iMessage or SMS), but *not* as a group text. So it goes out to each person on a list or group as an individual conversation.

Use case: I’m a point person for a family emergency and I have a *lot* of people to update. I would prefer to avoid a big messy group chat.
