Where are these discussions taking place?
And what's wrong with email? I suppose using #ETH addresses for login, or #RetroShare, something like that might work, but you're still tied to DNS otherwise if that is the big beef with email... Just speculating though, which is why I asked.
If #DNS isn't the offender, then perhaps the simplest would be #Keyoxide, #Matrix, #Fediverse address or #XMPP account verification?

A #filesystemDB (#namingthingsishard) would only change the parts that have really changed. #IPFS with #IPNS would be perfect for this too. Or #GitFS

Interesting thoughts!
OK, so it was THAT easy to share my site on IPFS... ๐ Blog post possibly incoming in a few days. In the meantime, check my IPFS-published blog here :)

@kzimmermann #IPNS runs quite well actually, it has been steady since #IPFS 0.7.0 ๐
Setup is very easy, see the docs
Me having been running a static #website (with both sides of web and #IPFS). Overall itโs running quite well, while yesterday it failed to update content via #IPNS.
This was because of killing by the kernel as it ran out of memory, and the evil #systemd didnโt restarted it well ๐.
Another instance of downtime was some large pictures uploaded that made #SSG killed. So IPFS is not to be blamed.

@dredmorbius Putting those tags on this clarification:
I don't want to now the deep ins and outs, I want a conceptual understanding of a few things to see if I can use it for a specific purpose.
The problem is that all explanations either wave their hands and talk about saving files "out there", or leap into details of hashes and content addressable stuff. There's nothing in the middle. Or at least, if there is, I haven't found it.

@ColinTheMathmo Tagging #IPFS and #ipns might help ;-)

@schestowitz great job! I think the only thing missing here is that this index itself cannot be hosted in #IPFS since any time you add new content to it, its hash changes and thus the address.
This is also a limitation that I'm struggling with in my website, but I hear that something like #IPNS strives to address, though I didn't quite understand how does it work...
Still, already a great job making your content #censorship resistant.
