Today's work in progress is an #IpswichLace, this one is the #10 of the Library of Congress samples. There was one new stitch to me--the headside crosses that are done without pins. I love to conquer a new thing!

I finished a swatch of another #IpswichLace. This is #14 in Karen Thompson's recreation pattern book.

It was a good one. Some of them are a little whacked. But this seemed really intuitive as you went in and out of motifs. Worked up faster than some.

Might appear on a black silk reproduction cloak in the future....

@drdan_o My interest is #lacemaking, but one of the coolest pieces made with the style of lace I'm interested in (#IpswichLace) is a #MementoMori apron belonging to a famous #18thCentury American family.

I went to #IpswichMuseum #Massachusetts today, where they had a lunchtime talk and show-and-tell with some of the #lacemaking items in their collection. I was swooning....

Here is an #IpswichLace pricking (the name for the card that holds the pattern with pin pricks). And now I have to decipher what this lace would have looked like.

That's what is so fun for me about lace, it's like a logic puzzle. That might not have an answer.... #bobbinlace
