Wenn ich dieses Bild schon mal exportiert habe, um dem @laugengebaeck privat die darin enthaltenen #IPTC -Tags zu zeigen, dann kann ich es auch gleich hier posten.
Ich hinterlege die texte in den JPGs als IPTC Description (Objektberschreibung). Z.B. mit #XnView (kostenlos) kann man die auch anzeigen. Dann kopiere ich sie von dort hierher als ALT-Texte (Bildbeschreibungen).

Adding: for content creators it would be nice to respect the copyright info in EXIF and/or IPTC, since it's been put there for a reason. Happy to have the other fields cleared (esp for privacy, location, serial numbers) but I find it offensive the default is to strip the copyright as well.

One of these will be appropriate for storing the centre about which an image should be cropped, which is all I need for my #pixelfed uploader.

One irritating feature of Mastodon is that it strips metadata from posted images. (that it Mastodon is no worse about this than Facebook or Twitter is no comfort)

Hrm, it seems alt-text has 'new' support via IPTC 2022.1 Standard.

Seems support is slow to take (low #Adobe #Lightroom votes https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-support-for-new-iptc-accessibility-metadata/idi-p/12797354 ; @d0n maybe some Flickr support or nudge?)

#Mastodon has pushed this more to the forefront than I've seen elsewhere. Will it also maybe natively support this (and/or @pixelfed )?

I absolutely love the idea of this getting embedded into #IPTC . If Adobe just adds this to LR, it removes another barrier.

Metadata may contain #author #credits #copyright information #location and #keywords as well as #title and #subtitle.

I would compare them to #hashtags.

#EXIF data will contain #camera information such as #ShutterSpeed or #FocalLength.

Doing an #IPTC test to look at metadata!

I've only just discovered that IPTC metadata now has fields for alt text. With any luck it'll become normal for sites like Mastodon to extract that metadata automatically. Today's task for me is to add accessibility text to my photo metadata editor #Photini.

Zwischenstand zum Issue "Image description: Pre-populate from IPTC data" bei #Mastodon

Ich habe vorgeschlagen, die #Bildbeschreibung beim Hochladen aus dem #IPTC-Datum "Headline" vorzubelegen, da viele #Fotografen in ihren Fotos die Daten bereits gepflegt haben. Scheint für die Serverseite eher unwahrscheinlich, aber für die Web App sieht es gut aus:

"Der Web-Client liest bereits EXIF-Daten aus dem Originalbild, um sicherzustellen, dass es richtig gedreht ist. Es sollte also nicht schwer sein, die IPTC-Felder zu extrahieren und die Beschreibung vorzupflegen." (von mir übersetzt)

Wäre schön, wenn sich einer der Entwickler des Themas annehmen würde.

Eben habe ich ein #issue für #Mastodon angelegt: Ich schlage vor, beim Bildupload die #Bildbeschreibung aus dem #IPTC-Feld "Headline" zu generieren und entweder direkt vorzubelegen, oder sie über einen Button explizit zu übernehmen.

I just created an issue for Mastodon: I suggest to generate the #ImageDescription from the IPTC field "Headline" when uploading an image and either preassign it directly, or explicitly generate it via a button.
