One of the notible attempts at rewriting of history by the GOP was the assertion that Saddam Hussein threw the the UN weapons inspectors out of Iraq in the leadup to the invasion by the United States and that Saddam was not cooperating. Those assertions are FALSE, according to Hans Blix, the Chief of the weapons inspection team, in his report to the UN. The fury we feel about the Russians’ illegal and stupid invasion of Ukraine maybe should make us think about the way Arab nations viewed our illegal invasion of Iraq. How are Bush and Rumsfeld et al any less war criminals than Putin? Sure we fought a politer war, but we still killed a bucket of Iraqis based on a stupid lie.
