I ordered a new flute at the beginning of December and it arrived two days ago. It's an M&E Rudall & Rose polymer flute. It's taking a bit of time to get used to it, but it's such a nice sounding and playing flute. The transition between octaves is smooth and it has a nice mellow (but not too quiet) sound.

It's going to be awhile before I'm playing dance tunes at full speed again, but I can almost get through a slow air without the flute going full Banshee on me (And I bet you thought only bagpipes could do that)

I remembered that the reason I bought the particular microphone that I'm doing most of this with is because it's remarkably natural sounding. So I stripped all the effects out of all the tracks and started over. Now all that's used is a little eq and a tiny bit of compression. And I re-recorded this one. I've been wanting to find a way to make a tight, well fitted inner part of a case for a couple of these antique flutes that I play. I finally had this idea yesterday. Using my desktop CNC to carve out, in this case, a piece of a 2x6. Next up will be trying to do it with something like rigid foam insulation. #flute #irishflute #woodenflute
