Another aspect of #Iroduko that I really like? RESPONSIBLE ADULTS. WHO CARE.
It’s why Hitomi ends up with a place to stay, and enrolled in school.
Mind you the bit with making her sign a “I won’t blow up the school with magic” contract was hilarious. The teachers have had… experiences with her grandmother as a teenager so they’re naturally cautious.
One good thing about the #Iroduko first episode (and in general) is that there’s a lot of Show, Don’t Tell.
We never get an explanation of why magic is real and accepted… it just ***is***.
Similarly that magic exists is why Hitomi’s family from 60 years ago just accept the letter telling them that she’s from the future.
Right now I’m ***really*** hoping that #Iroduko can bloody well stick the landing.
Because the build up so far has been great. An ending that doesn’t live up to what’s happened to far would be a real disappointment.
#Iroduko has also, thus far at least, been conspicuously devoid of the usual sort of fan service. For which I’m grateful.
An earlier episode had a scene where for actual plot relevant reasons (itself a shock) Hitomi falls into a pool in her school uniform … and there’s an immediate discretion cut to her coming out of a club room in her tracksuit.
Kaori Ishihara is doing (did? It is a 2018 show) a fine job in the lead as Hitomi BTW. #Iroduko https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaori_Ishihara
