Hear me out because im not goimg where you think with this idea. A federated, social media for video sharing and commenting, but here is where it gets practical. Instances would not store video or other medida, only comments, listings, descriptions, just the text. Content is stored on #IPFS (and or IPFS #Iroh), and clients for the service ship with and launch the neccisary software.

@ghostlyash I rarely name them but if I do, I sometimes go for cutesy permutations of their own names, or some pop culture character that has some links to their typing, if not the species itself

E.g. in #PokemonScarlet I called my Fuecoco #Zuko until he evolved into a Skeledirge and grew up so I called him #Iroh for #Avatar - he grew up and got wise!

Maybe I should try egui or dioxus.

For my mastodon desktop app that might be an idea. For my social network idea, it won't help because the #ipfs #rust story (namingly #iroh) is still not in a usable shape at all, so no way I could even get a MVP going.

Okay, #rust bubble. I guess I have just to think bigger. I will try again with #iroh #ipfs and #tauri for my GUI app, but this time I will leave #nix out of the equation until I get some stuff working.

And I guess I have to scale my idea up, meaning that I implement the backend as an Axum backed web service and then connect the tauri frontend to it.
This way I get more separation of concerns as well, which should be nice.

I guess I will continue this week and write the GUI part of my distributed social Network idea.

As soon as #ipfs #iroh is in place and usable, I can implement the backend part...
