My wife's family village and rice land is about 6 kilometers from our place. Here is one recent picture of Sai's father out working in the rice field and a second less recent picture of him picking long beans. The beans are not on our land but from a relative of his in the village. We are into the rainy season here and everything is growing fast.

The Chi and Mun River are the two largest #rivers within #Isaan or Northeastern Thailand. The Mun-Chi river basin is the highlighted region in the map below, and I added a rough outline of our province. The flow of waterways in Isaan south of the Mun River is generally to the north and northeast. The Chi River empties into the Mun at the extreme northeast of Sisaket Province, and from there the Mun runs to the border of #Thailand & #Laos where it empties into the #Mekong.

Afternoon bicycle ride along one of our local canals, called "khlongs". This one is Klong Phai คลองไผ่.

Khlongs out here are usually partially natural waterways with many dredged sections. They generally run from one larger stream to another, or occasionally back to the same one. The water is used for irrigation, household supply, and also provides habitat for plants, fish, and other creatures.
