@jerry @fsnk Great idea. But it would be interesting to see how it works out. I think from an operational perspective I think if it operates like a hybrid #TOC like that of various #ISAC orgs, it might work. I don't think acting as a traditional SOC would work unless owners allowed the CERT access. So here is a summary of services I think the CERT team could facilitate:

-Mastadon Code Review
-Server config review
-Server config best practices
-Ban list distribution
-Threat guidance

I wouldn't start off with more than that until the group grows, and I wouldn't really start with all of that either unless there is enough interest. Getting processes, procedures, and documentation down will have a lot of overhead in the beginning.

@Stiltz Your mileage may vary between all the different #ISAC orgs, but the number 1 thing you can do is to engage your membership team. They know everything that ISAC org has to offer. Also, each ISAC should have a #Listserv where they push out updates like #Events, #IOC, #ThreatIntel, and messages from members. In my specific ISAC, we have conversations every day about a variety of #infosec topics via the Listserv or secure messaging. ISACs usually have partners too. Mine partners with Security Scorecard, which we get a free account with them. There is also a member that offers monitoring of your accounts through a service they created that watches the #DarkWeb for your credentials. (So long as you are comfortable giving them your credentials.) So what it really comes down to is engagement. Engage your ISAC, you can get a lot out of it.

If you are an #Infosec #Leader and have not had your organization join your sector specific #ISAC you are doing yourself and your organization a disservice. There is so much #collaboration between members, #ThreatIntelligence feeds, and services you are missing out on. For those working with a small team, it can effectively augment your FTE staff.
