Just finished my #ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity self-paced training and am registered for the certification exam in a couple weeks.

If it weren't for this #infosecexchange community that @jerry has provided for us and the posts of other kind souls who share resources, including that (ISC)² was offering this entry-level certification pathway, I don't know that I'd even be heading in this direction and considering a career in #cybersecurity.

To all of you who are here, thank you for your impact. It really is so cool to be here among such intelligent and wonderful people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

A year or so ago, I passed the #isc2 #ccsp exam, but wasn't eligible for the certification because I hadn't hit the threshold for cybersecurity working experience.

Now, all that's left is to pay $125/year. Feeling kind of meh about it.

Well that was a fun 3hrs 17min and 34seconds of work, I passed the course on the pre-assessment, but went through the whole course anyway, as I've never formally be taught a lot of the terminology, or in fact any of this.

On to the next couple of courses now.

Dear #ISC2 ... so, you want a "safe and secure cyber world"? You want to be relevant to cybersecurity practitioners?

1) Be available on Mastodon where the bulk of the practitioners have gone to.
2) Fix your web site. Regardless of the browser I use I always get an error initially when I try to connect. And, the cookie banner at the top has a tendency to reload itself after one clicks on the OK button. I've had it pop up as many as two more times after the initial reload.
3) Sometimes when I log into my.isc2.org and then try to access the CPE portal on cpe.isc2.org, I have to log in again.

One wonders if you are aware of how many practitioners are considering not renewing their certifications with you. #cybersecuritycertifications #cybersecurityprofessional

@justaq this is very true, but they have always been an issue from an #InfoSec perspective - which is why ISP's are now offering #SecurityOutOfTheBox with their gateways. I know the @cisacyber has some public/private initiatives specifically for this purpose (helping SMBs), as does #ISC2. I guess we need to setup a #InfoSecCollaborative where Infosec professionals donate their time to help SMBs? Problem there, is who maintains it and where do the SMBs go when there is an incident? #MSPs are expensive and have Customer Service issues (from what I am told). So the question now becomes - #HowCanWeHelpThem?

I'm always telling my students to celebrate their achievements no matter how big or small. So this is me practicing what I preach.

I'd like to #introducemyself and I'm happy to be here and still learning how this platform works, but it seems to be pretty simple.

I used #Twitter mostly for professional reasons. I follow those within my field, and occasional nerd things. I used Twitter as a platform to find out the latest news in the #cybersecurity field. As you might know, when vulnerabilities first come out they sometimes show up on these platforms before the official press releases are sent. Which is why I'm genuinely sad that Twitter has become difficult to use anymore.

IRL, I am a very happy and friendly person, and I like to surround myself with those who are also happy and friendly people, and that's why I'm here. 😀​

I very much look forward with engaging the #IT #cybersecurity and #infosec communities on here.

A little more about me:
- I work in the #Cybersecurity #Cloud #Infrastructure #systemsengineering fields.
- I believe a lot of technical challenges can be solved through automation. It's important to work hard, but it's more important to work efficiently.
- I love scripting in Python, PHP, SQL, and PowerShell. I will also learn scripting on the fly for a project.
- I have various certifications, including the CISSP and working on the CCSP next! #isc2
- In my downtime I am studying over 30 languages, only speak 3-4 fluently, 5-8 semi-fluently. I'm very fascinated in the history of proto-languages and how they've woven into the modern languages we have today.
- I'm a STEM, Sci-Fi, and Marvel/DC nerd; an example of this is that I once watched all of #StarTrek in chronological order to the Star Trek universe -- it took 9 months, but was worth it. 🤓​

Finally, I like to learn something new everyday, and today it's #Mastodon 🤓​

The (ISC)² Board of Directors submitted bylaw amendments to the membership. The amendments were put to a vote from October 19-November 19, 2022. Results of the vote were as follows:

• 6,545 members voted “AGAINST APPROVAL”
• 2,628 members voted “FOR APPROVAL”
292 members voted to “ABSTAIN”
