Personally I wished it was an "#AnnexB" style #HyTNAS with #POTS/#PSTN + #ISDN on the same lines but that doesn't work with Uk0.

You had me at #ISDN -- I did remote work from home before it was cool, DJing for a few radio stations (over that ISDN 128k) while monitoring my then seven line BBS in the middle of Kansas. Not a lot of *nix, but a lot of old school experiences. Glad to see ya here. :)

Had the United States Federal government not broken up the Bell System (AT&T) the goal was to have every home converted to ISDN by 1980. Imagine ISDN data speeds (128 kilobits) in 1980. That would be 15 years before most people heard of the internet.

Now imagine if AT&T had the marketing genius of Microsoft from the same era and nearly all home and business computers came preinstalled with UNIX.

AT&T is as just like Sony, always failing.

Listening to Evan Doorbell's phone tapes and remembering my youth. I lived in a rural area in a kinda special place, so 28.8k was a blessing.

Had an IP point back in 2003 or so (I was 16), but mostly reading echos thru Usenet. Ran Maximus for a while just for lulz, then crossed into Linux land and learned a lot.

In 1998 had ik zo'n #isdn verbinding waardoor ik kon 'inbellen', ook op de e-mail van mijn werkgever tegen 'belkosten'.

Ik stuurde een keer een mail terug naar de enthousiaste secretaresse van mijn afdeling met het verzoek om geen plaatjes/afbeeldingen mee te sturen. 😂

Los van de kosten van inbellen, stond mijn PC dan wel 15 minuten te stampen op haar mail. 😂 😂

37 jaar geleden kocht ik mijn 1e #pc met 2 #floppydrives. Voor het 'opslaan' van al je #programmatuur en je #data was er een 'Floppy Disk Storage Box' te koop en nog steeds overigens (zie foto. Sic 🙄 ).
Die doosjes stonden naast mijn #pc en aangezien er nog geen #internet was voor #thuis, was verdere #adminstratie niet nodig.

Rond 1996 kreeg ik #isdn van mijn werkgever in de #ict en kon #internetten. Het #managen van je #wachtwoorden werd ook onderdeel van ...(2)

Under my new proposal all high speed internet connections not apart of the backbone will be downgraded to ISDN BRI (128 kilobits). This will encourage programmers and developers to write better and more efficient code.

Eine ca. 30 Jahre alte "Telebau Willi" #isdn Telefonanlage mit vorgeschalteter uralt #FritzBox im Zuge des #Glasfaserausbau|s gegen eine Fritzbox 7590 ersetzt. Das ist ein eigenes Abenteuer sag ich euch...

Von ehemals 6 analogen Nebenstellen auf 2 reduziert plus ein FritzFon #dect Telefon. Aber hat letzten Endes funktioniert, alles klingelt da wo es soll!
