Finally allow me to return to a personal note. I have helped organize and countered a number of openly fascist and Christian Nationalist #Islamophobic protests in MN. At one, I and others were specifically targeted and attacked by Nazi gunfire.

The notion that my work as a #ReligiousStudies scholar, emphasizing the diversity and complexity of human social history and traditions, is equivalent to attacking any student or their faith, is deeply irritating to me, and offensive as a scholar.

What I don't understand is the silence about #Taliban extremism from most #socialjustice groups around me in New England. It's almost disappeared from the agenda. Locally, some people are afraid to criticize any religious policies against women in the #MiddleEast, because they may be accused of being #Islamophobic. But we can't allow misuse of that word to scare people from seeing what is going on in that and other nearby countries. So many women need our help. They need #allies
