Also: The committee’s criminal referrals will make it harder for the Supremes to endorse that “independent state legislature” rubbish.

"Stephen Miller is arguing to the Supreme Court, in writing, that any state legislature should be able to control the electoral college votes in that state, no matter how the citizens of that state voted for president."

Yet "Brett Kavanaugh thinks that's perfectly okay to go to a right-wing party, with the right-wing extremist who has a case pending before the Supreme Court." crooksandliars.com/2022/12/odo

This is my Moore v. Harper thread mentioned by Slate’s Emily Bazelon on @SlateGabfest this week.
And they linked to this tweet on my concern about limiting remedies.
The Democrats’ lawyer Verrilli conceded (wrongly!) this clause may limit judicial remedies to fix gerrymanders and racist districting. State legislatures would win a game of chicken: the last map they draw wins, even if racist and illegal: twitter.com/jedshug/status/160

This lays out in easily accessible terms the danger of the so-called "Independent State Legislature Theory" that was argued at the today. Well worth the read to understand what's at risk from those extremists who defend it. slate.com/news-and-politics/20

MOORE v. HARPER

Moore v. Harper will be argued before the Supreme Court on December 7. The case involves the Independent State Legislature Theory. The outcome will substantially effect the electoral process in this country. This is a complicated but important case. The time to research and understand the potential impact of a forthcoming ruling is now.
