This is a nasty habit of French governments. Whenever youth revolt and express their anger, the Ministry of the Interior turns to Israel. [The French Ministry of the Interior's office] would have liked more discretion, but Shimon Nahmani, deputy head of the Israeli police operations division, was heard on Sunday by the national security committee of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.
The hearing, entitled "Violent arrests of demonstrators", had been called for by several Israeli opposition MPs. They were undoubtedly concerned by the demonstrations that have been shaking the country for months, in opposition to the reform of the judicial system. Shimon Nahmani then announced that "the Israeli police commission has received a fax from the French police to find out how to handle the crisis they are facing". This can be heard on the video of the meeting, which can be viewed on the Knesset website. The Israeli Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom picked up the story.
