#GreatAlbums1990s - #PJHarvey – #IsThisDesire (1998). Harvey’s underrated fourth album sees her growing artistically by tempering her familiar angst with a singer’s panache. The beautiful “Angelene” leads the set, before a new electronic dimension tempers Harvey’s primal scream on tracks like “A Perfect Day Elise.” Later, the haunting “The River” takes Harvey into Nick Cave territory to reach a ghostly climax. For me, her best album.
